The CRISPI® Highland Pro boots are a unique design that offers a waterproof, comfortable, supportive and protective high boot that will revolutionise the waterproof boot market in the UK.

There tends to be 3 options for the outdoors when choosing the best footwear for the type of activity and conditions; 1) Wellington boots, 2) Walking Boots and 3) Walking Boots with Gaiters fitted. Each of the 3 options have positives and negatives. Wellingtons offer great waterproof properties, but very limited ankle support and comfort. Walking boots offer good support and comfort but limited waterproof abilities compared with wellingtons. The option to fit a gaiter to walking boots is an improvement but can be time consuming, fiddly and ultimately, water can stilll creep up from underneath.  With the Crispi Highland Pro, you have all of the benefits but none of the drawbacks.

The Crispi Highland Pro features a Crispi walking boot on the inside with a Gore-Tex membrane to aid breathability. It also features a built in gaiter that is sealed to the walking boot and has an external rubber rand to ensure durability and make this boot 100% waterproof. The result is a high performance boot with great ankle support, grip and superior waterproofness. The adjustable velcro fastening at the top futher enhances the boot by reducing any splashes going into the boot and also reducing the possibility of ticks reaching your skin.

Featuring the special Boa® Closure System to enable ease of use and comfort. The closure requires only the twisting of the dial to tighten the boot to your individual requirements with not tying of laces required. A customised fit without pressure points is achieved thanks to the BOA millimetric closing system which uniformly distributes pressure.  The protective thermo-sealed gaiter and watertight TIZIP make the Highland Pro boot completely impermeable to water.  The shock-absorbing midsole and tread with Vibram Megagrip compound ensure maximum traction and stability.

  1. Lee Andrew

Honestly these are amazing. Super comfortable and the technology involved in making these boots easy to put on and remove is amazing. Yet to test how waterproof these are but have only heard great reviews of them. Pricey but well worth it. Also a big shout out to John who was more than helpful and made the buying experience just perfect.

In short, I would definitely buy these Crispi Highland Pro boots again, and would buy them from W Slack and Sons, again.

I ordered these boots online, without being able to get to a store and try them on for size.

For reference, my feet measure between UK Size 7 and 7.5, and the Size 8 Crispi fit perfectly, with sufficient breathing room at the toe-end, and feel very comfortable when wearing and walking about. The BOA lacing system is brilliant and makes the boots quick to tighten up and take off.

Comfort-wise, straight out of the box I’ve had no experience of blisters that I did with other (lesser quality boots), even after a good hour and a half of trekking across open moorland. They’re really fantastic, in that respect.

There’s a tube of lubricant that comes in the box, which is needed as the zip is very stiff from brand new. But it really makes a difference once applied, the zip now moves nice and freely, but still feels nicely secure when done up, so worth taking the time to do before your first trek.

I live around the Peak District and all the best walking routes are hilly, uneven dirt and loose stone tracks, and knee-high grasses and shrubs that leave socks soaking wet, even on mornings when the rain hasn’t fallen, but the greenery just absorbs all the dew in the morning. I needed something better than ordinary walking boots, and these Crispi boots are just brilliant. I don’t know the bloke, but agree with everything Lee Andrew wrote in his review.

In the first week that I’ve had them, they’ve faced a torrential downpour, morning dew saturating the heather and tall grasses (which used to get my socks soaking wet requiring ages to dry shoes), and walks on challenging moorland terrain in both wet and dry weather.

I have experienced damp socks, but that’s come from the sweat from long, arduous walks, not from water getting in from the outside. The fact that I can go that far in them shows how comfortable they are out of the box.

Speaking of socks, make sure you get some good calf-height thick walking socks, as I found the inner boot started to chafe the exposed legs when my trouser legs rode up a little inside the gaiter, and I was only wearing ankle-high socks on the first trip out with the boots.

Hi Graham, thank you for your review. I am sure many others will appreciate reading your experience of wearing the Highland Pro. Some really good advice there which answers perfectly some of the frequently asked questions we get about this innovative boot from Crispi. Personally I find Crispi to be the most comfortable footwear I have ever used and this is something I also hear from customers old and new.

      Enjoy your regards, John Slack.
